Inscription on TombstoneSacred to the memory of Joseph BURNE, who fell asleep in Christ 15 January 1889, aged 68. He was an entirely honest business man, a faithful friend, a compassionate helper of the poor, for 23 years he served as Deacon, The Congregational Church in this city. Ministry to the young was his delight, he lived by the faith of Christ, and died in assured hope of the immortality bought to light by the gospel. Also in loving remembrance of his wife, Jessie, who entered into rest on 29 August 1916, aged 83. [Separate inscription on west face of memorial] =In Loving memory of William Henry WEST, B.A, LL.D, greatly loved and esteemed by the members of the Congregational Church in this city, over which he presided from his ordination in 1871 till his decease, and widely respected on account of his upright character, his catholic sympathies, and his public spirit. Entered into rest 9 July 1889, in the 48th of his age. Also in loving memory of his wife, Mary Kate, who fell asleep 12 July 1926, in her 72nd year.
