BiographyHenry Fowle SEAGER assumed charge of the Lunatic Asylum at Karori on 10 May 1872, and then became manager of Mount View Asylum. Joined by his wife, Charlotte Elizabeth as matron, they "brought about salutary reform" in that institution. Henry later suffered a "severe attack of neuralgia in the head" and during his long illness, his role was "efficiently filled by the chief attendant, Mr Marius Ingwerson". After Henry's death on 27 Apr 1876, it was reported that Mrs Seager will still continue to occupy the position of matron." [The Globe, 27 Apr 1876; Evening Post, 27 Apr 1876; EP 4 May 1876] Their son, Ernest Edward SEAGER died on 21 Jun 1914.
