Description of GraveThe headstone is white marble with incised lettering. It has been laid flat on the ground, with repairs done to a break near the top, but the very bottom section has now been separated and is two broken pieces.

BiographyJohn Webber TATTLE was "an industrious, sober and honest lad" who had been employed on a Wairarapa property for six years. After setting off on horseback to obtain "four working bullocks" from Tauherenikau, he was swept away while attempting to cross the Ruamahanga River at the Waihanga Ford.
