BiographyGeorge WORGAN was born c1803 in Gloucestershire, son of Rev Joseph WORGAN and Jemima Little HARTLAND. George married Harriette Elizabeth BUCKLAND on 27 Sep 1833, and they arrived in New Zealand on the "Carnatic" on 8 Jan 1854. George had been an organist and a professor of music in Camden; having settled in Napier, he joined the Napier choral society and was in constant demand as a pianist. By 1882 they were living in Molesworth St, Wellington, where Harriette died on 21 Jan 1883, aged 71. George died on 2 Apr 1888, aged 85, at the home of Mrs Carpenter, on Tinakori Road, Thorndon.
